Homemade Chex Party Mix Recipe

Today we are going to make a popular cereal mix called peanut butter Chex mix. It is a really delicious treat made with peanut butter, chocolate, peanut butter cups, sugar, peanuts, and of course, Chex cereal. For a cheesy Chex Mix, add ½ cup Parmesan cheese to the cereal mixture before tossing it in the butter mixture. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium low heat.
Allow the mixture to cool completely on the baking sheets. Transfer the Chex Mix to a bowl and serve. Melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave or in a pan on the stove. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine the three types of Chex cereal, peanuts, rye chips/bagel chips, and pretzels in a large bowl. In another large bowl that is microwave-safe, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter.
Sweet and Savory Bacon Crackers
In a small bowl, combine melted butter, Worcestershire sauce and dry seasonings. Pour over the cereal mix and toss with a spatula or wooden spoon until everything is completely coated. Using a large spoon, pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal mixture, and stir until everything is fully coated. Add powdered sugar mixture to bag with cereal; seal bag, and shake to coat thoroughly.
Replace 1 cup of the pretzels with 1 cup of peanuts or mixed nuts, Cheerios, bagel chips or Corn nuts. Stir all ingredients together in a large bowl. Prepare the baking sheet by greasing with cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper. Plus, a rich chocolate option to satisfy any snackers with a sweet tooth.

In small bowl, mix powdered sugar, malted milk powder and baking cocoa; set aside. In large microwavable bowl, add cereals. Use unsalted butter since the mix contains plenty of salt from the seasoning salt, peanuts, pretzels, cheese crackers and Worcestershire sauce. Pre-heat oven to 250°. Put cereal and seasoning mixture into ungreased roasting pan and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes.
Arrange 2 racks to divide the oven into thirds and heat the oven to 250°F. Line 2 rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper. The trick to getting the Chex mix perfectly crisp and golden is to gently toast it at a low temperature. Our recipe calls for baking it at 250°F, which for some ovens is the lowest temperature it will go. Chex mix is the ultimate DIY snack.
Ingredients for Cheesy Chex Mix
There are more than 2,000 brands of Chex Mix, including savory and spicy versions. So, whether you want a savory or sweet snack, you can find the right mix to satisfy your taste. Chex Mix Supplies also offers a variety of food storage containers. You can store these snacks in a number of different sizes, from small to large. You can also purchase clear and opaque containers to see what’s inside.
Chex also has pieces of apple, pretzel, and puffed rice, and can come in a wide variety of flavors. If you don’t see Chex cereal in your local grocery store, it can be found in major grocery chains. Chex is the second-most popular cereal in the country, which is behind Frosted Flakes.
HOW TO MAKE SWEET HOLIDAY CHEX MIX:
To make sure the Chex mix is toasting evenly, give it a stir every 15 minutes. Think of it like the difference between raw nuts and toasted nuts. Toasted is always better. Program the air fryer to 350° and cook for 3 minutes. Stir the mixture and then cook for another 2 minutes. Cook the Chex Mix for 2 hours, stirring the mixture every half hour.
After that, you can pack your snacks in airtight baggies or jars. Expect the mix to stay great for up to two months. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or nonstick aluminum foil. In a very large mixing bowl, combine the corn chex, rice chex, wheat chex, coconut and pecan halves. In a large microwave safe bowl, microwave the butter for 30 seconds or until melted.
Also, try not to break those dry ingredients into pieces, to preserve the texture of the final treat. Be gentle like a surgeon, sure, but thankfully there's no brain surgeon level of complexity to this step. Just add all the dry ingredients together into a large bowl and gently mix them together with your hands. Pour coated cereal mixture into large gallon Ziplock bag. Let the chex mix cool on the baking sheet before serving or packaging up.
The most popular varieties are wheat, corn, and rice, and the finished mix is really tastiest if you use a combination of all three. Chips are typically deep fried in oil, and Chex Mix is coated in a very small amount of melted butter. It's much healthier and has fewer calories. This recipe is great to package up in a pretty box and give as a gift. It's also perfect for a game day or movie night snack.
Pour the melted butter mixture over the cereal mixture; toss to coat. Pour the melted white chocolate over the rice Chex cereal and toss until it is coated. Finally, pour the coated rice cereal onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles. Spread the cereal mixture on two large baking sheets. You want the mix to be as even as possible, but since you’ll be stirring it periodically it will all cook evenly.
So, prep a bulk batch and never have hangry kids again. Well, at least you won't for the next two months. Next sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and stir to coat again. Bake in the oven for about minutes, stirring with a flat spatula at least twice at 15 minute intervals.
